Full Story

So here's the beef. We left late Sunday night to drive to Seward, AK. Pulled up to the beach in Seward at about midnight, we fell asleep to the sound of the breaking waves and the view of Resurrection Bay. Slept very well(due to having a camper shell) and woke up to crazy seagulls yelling at us.

We then drove to the glacier and hiked around. It had started sprinkling a tad so everything was super slippy. We scaled a 50' rock that was pretty scary and dangerous if it were dry, but since it was wet we were lucky to make it. We touched the glacier, then climbed around near a cool canyon, then decided it was time to visit a lost lake, somewhere in the Chugach mountains.

We started the hike, which is 7.5 miles one way to the lake. Eric was too excited that there were beautiful blueberries, salmon berries, and watermelon berries that it took them a little longer(2.5hrs) to reach the top. There are pictures of the lake in the previous post and if we go again this year, I will take a camera.

It was magnificent, 1000 foot deep gorge, cute little mountain streams, lotza birdies, huge trees, dense forests, arctic tundra(I think they called it alpine), and that beautiful, crystal clear lake.

On the way back down the mountain, Eric was being tired and sore, but Marcella was doing fine. She was ahead of him and one of the runners(yeah, people run up and down this thing) caught up to us. Eric let him pass, and Marcella, thinking it was me, started running(its a little thing we do, I chase her and she runs faster). Well, he kept getting closer, and she just ran faster and faster, until she was squealing because of how funny it was, then she yells "Lovey", to which he replied, "I don't think I am who you think I am", I finally caught up and she told me, we laughed heartily, and I am sure he did too.

And the moral is: Camper shells are awesome, mine just needs the back glass replaced.

  1. That's a hilarious story! Reminds me of the time Jayson was playing "footsie" with my mom and didn't know it. Like a child grabbing a pant leg, thinking that it's her dad's but it's a complete strangers! We've all been there! So funny!! Sounds absolutely beautiful. I hope you bring your camera next time!!
